ReadyRESCUE™ & Preventing Pain in Our Pets

As pet parents, one of the hardest things to witness is our four-legged friend in pain. Whether it’s a limp after a long walk, avoiding meal times, or that subtle change in behavior when something just isn’t right, pain is always a red flag.

Sometimes pain and suffering aren’t from an injury or illness—it’s from something they’ve eaten.

What happens when my pet eats something toxic?

Many everyday items common in almost any pet household —like chocolate, grapes, or human medications—can cause poisoning in pets. When ingested, these toxins can lead to discomfort like abdominal pain, vomiting, and restlessness, to more severe complications such as organ failure, if not addressed quickly.

As soon as our pets eat something poisonous, it travels into their stomach. In order for it to cause damage, it has to be absorbed by the body- but this takes time to occur. For this reason, the longer the toxin is in their stomach without any treatment, the more toxin is absorbed which can lead to pain, suffering and organ damage.

What about making them vomit with hydrogen peroxide?

Historically hydrogen peroxide was used to treat pets for home poisoning, with the hopes of them expelling the toxins orally. We now know that in addition to being highly inefficient at expelling toxins, hydrogen peroxide administration is painful. Hydrogen peroxide works by burning the esophagus and stomach, causing pain and irritation that results in the pet vomiting. As pet owners, the last thing we want to do is cause our pets more pain.

This is why we created ReadyRESCUE™.

ReadyRESCUE™ as your first line of defense

ReadyRESCUE™ is a first-response tool for poisoning designed to help pet parents take immediate action when their pet eats something they shouldn’t. Made with a next-generation activated charcoal, ReadyRESCUE™ works by binding toxins in the digestive tract before they can enter your pet’s bloodstream, effectively neutralizing the effects of the toxin

When it comes to your pet’s pain, ReadyRESCUE™:

  • Reduces toxin absorption by the body – limiting the harmful effects that can cause painful digestive upset and organ damage.

  • Buys time – giving pet parents a critical window to get their pet to the vet without toxins spreading further.

  • Supports comfort – acting quickly to trap the poison in the digestive tract may lessen the painful symptoms associated with intoxication, like cramping, bloating, and nausea.

What to do if you think your pet’s eaten something

If your pet shows sudden signs of pain, always call your veterinarian first. If you think it may be because they’ve eaten something toxic (we’ve all walked in to find garbage thrown around the room like confetti), it is crucial to act immediately, to minimize the amount of poison being absorbed by the body.

If you suspect your dog has eaten something toxic, administer ReadyRESCUE™ right away and further investigate the situation if needed. While your pet is busy eating their ReadyRESCUE™ treatment , call your vet or poison control to get more information on the best next steps. If you are unable to get timely advice, head in to your vet’s office immediately. Oftentimes if your pet is showing signs of pain or discomfort after ingesting something, receiving veterinary care is critical.

As a rule of thumb, think of ReadyRESCUE™ as your pet’s EpiPen for poisoning: it helps reduce the damage that ingested toxins can do while you seek professional care. It may be sufficient treatment, but you should always confirm with your vet.

Pay attention to pain

Pain is your pet’s way of telling you something is wrong. While not every source of pain is preventable, having tools like ReadyRESCUE™ on hand can make all the difference in emergencies involving toxin ingestion. Being prepared doesn’t just save lives—it saves your pet from unnecessary suffering.
